Does Bungie Really Care About What Their Fans Think Anymore?

The most significant aspect of Destiny 2’s campaign is that it has an actual campaign. After Destiny and Rise of Iron’s cookie-cutter missions, it’s nice to have something with more variety and substance than "bad guy over there, go kill it." That's not saying Destiny 2’s campaign is anything deep. Characters jump in and out of the campaign quickly as the story moves you from world-to-world. While the quick pacing keeps things moving, it never slows down enough to create any connections between the player and the world. Worst yet is the player’s Guardian who, in Destiny 2, is relegated to a silent protagonist. Ghost ends up speaking the entire time for the player and comes off as annoying. The current set up with the Ghost quickly becomes grating, and even more annoying when other characters point out your silence. This was purposefully done so that players can become invested in their Guardian, but in execution comes off as cartoonish.

[JH]: We talk about everything, top-to-bottom, with all our creative partners. The first Destiny had a non-silent protagonist. In Destiny 2, we put an emphasis on the player’s story and we feel that, when it comes to the balance of how much should you talk vs an NPC, it should be more NPC. This isn’t Master Chief or Nathan Drake, this is supposed to be you. We don’t want to be presumptuous about the words we put in your mouth as you’re exploring. Ghost is there to help guide you through the story.

On the moon you find a deceased Guardian, not to mention a mysterious figure shadowing you. It’s revealed that the Hive have been in contact with an unknown presence are making preparations for an invasion of Earth, something you need to stop. Thus, you dive deeper into the Hive ruins only to find the Sword of Crota. By destroying this, the Hive’s communications have ceased with the unknown force, and for the remainder of the vanilla story, the Hive threat has been squashed. Unfortunately, they’re not the major problem as the mysterious figure who has been stalking you hails you to Venus.

While there no new classes, each of the three returning classes get a new subclass. Hunters get Arcstrider, Titans get Sentinel and Warlocks get Dawnblade. Each of the new subclasses is a joy to use and players can unlock their other Destiny 1 subclasses (Gunslinger, Striker and Voidwalker) and The Taken King subclasses (Nightstalker, Sunbreaker and Stormcaller) if the new ones aren't their cup of tea. Each returning class has been tweaked to make them more viable in Destiny 2, and both new and old are fun to play.

Love it or hate it, Destiny is addicting. It has some of the best first person shooting mechanics available, and while the campaign structure is limited, its drive for loot is exciting. Unfortunately, if players ignore the Raids all together they will be left with an unfortunate experience that’s marred by a virtually non-existent plot. Regardless, Destiny 2 Walkthrough is a fun game to play with friends, having you dig through hours of dungeons and lengthy strikes. There’s a lot for Bungie to do (an actual story would be nice, more varied locations for missions and less repetitive mission tasks), but they have established something to build off of that will hopefully be expanded upon in future iterations.

Destiny 2 astounds with its fantastic art direction, presenting worlds that are bigger and more detailed. The European Dead Zone and Nessus, in particular, are meticulously crafted worlds filled with wild vegetation, towering trees, and flowing rivers. Effects, lighting, and animation work are also top-notch, helping to make the world of Destiny feel like a real place.

Destiny is a game with strong lore that does a poor job of presenting it to players. Though Bungie vastly improved the game's story elements in The Taken King and Rise of Iron, it's with Destiny 2 where the developer is looking to make it's biggest strides yet. Featuring a full-fledged campaign, Adventures that tell their own sidestory and new lore items, the story team in Bellevue, Washington have had their hands busy. We got to sit down the Matthew Ward and Jason Harris, members of the Story and Cinematics team to discuss Destiny 2's plot.

Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls were easily two of my favorite games to have hit the last generation of consoles, so when From Software announced a "direct" sequel, my anticipation was palpable. Somehow, From Software is able to create some of the most grueling, most depressing worlds out there, while at the same time urges us to venture forth. While there are some hitbox issues that can add to the frustration, the bosses, environments and enemies are all well throughout, along with an incredibly intriguing hidden storyline that ties directly into the past game. It’s almost as if the developers deliberately set up scenarios to screw over players, but we took it and enjoy every minute of it.

Arguably the most dangerous force alive, The Hive are a deadly ancient race hell bent on war. While their appearance seems more of a feral and radical race, they’re actually quite organized, with hierarchy of ranks and stature. With their current residence in the Solar System being on the Moon, with constant plans to advance on Earth, these beings originally came from the gas giant of Fundament in a galaxy far, far away. They are the most advanced race known to anyone, tapping into the Ascendant Realm which houses their gods, and constantly researching alternate dimensions. They also have the most connections with other races, most in particular with the Vex and the Darkness. They have been known to use The Darkness in their favor, creating The Taken in the process, which are just enemies who are possessed by the mysterious Dark force.

Destiny 2 is Taking Small Steps Forward with Many Lessons to Teach

Bungie unloaded a full clip of Destiny 2 PvP Guide to the face and the feels are real . Remember when I said to pay attention to Zavala? Destiny 2 immediately proves it has more heart than the first game, even with all the expansions. Using the opening of the showcasing of Destiny 2 as a platform — having Zavala introduce the player base to a more serious tone which immediately sets the stakes higher -- is a strong move. Zavala’s more serious demeanor isn’t all brooding, but a calculus of everything going around him. Which is why the story to Destiny 2 is already immensely important. While there are a number of things in Destiny 2, the PvE aspect of things makes for the skeletal structure that holds up the Destiny universe. In other words, lore matters.

It's a bit nerve-racking that lore, while mentioned, didn’t come up that much, other than story content. With such a serious overhaul to story, gameplay and the two combined, it’s odd that Bungie would leave out what they’ve done for Destiny lore access to the player base. They introduced a number of needed fixes (maps) and while these are already a drastic improvement to the core Destiny game, lore seems out of reach for the moment. It’s not to say that Bungie won’t talk about it later, but still. While not showcasing access to lore, it's most certainly there. For lore nerds like myself, Destiny 2 already looks to be a dream come true.

Taking place on Nessus, one of the two new planets coming to Destiny 2, the strike in the Beta is called The Inverted Spire and focuses on a Vex mind that has been awoken by the Cabal. Nessus is a neat world that kind of combines the aesthetics of the Vex and the Cabal since it was originally a machine world of the Vex's that has been invaded by the Cabal. The planet itself also has a new look to it, with a muted gray landscape, but one with lush red trees everywhere. It's a really cool look that brings a new feel to the game.

A new set of class specific abilities are being added as well. These abilities stay the same no matter which subclass you choose, and are generally meant to help your teammates. Titans can plant down a shield, Warlocks can cast an area of healing and Hunters get a dodge roll similar to the one that was part of the Nightstalker subclass. The first two are activated by holding down the circle or B button and the Hunter's roll is done by double tapping it. They are all a nice addition to each class' set of abilities and are super tactical. They were all incredibly useful in both PvE and PvP.

Bungie did turn a corner with the laying out of the plan moving forward for Destiny 2, which was a nice gesture, but showing us the content road ahead isn’t what earns trust back ; it’s the work put into Destiny 2. Guardians have been putting in the work of playing the game. Many couldn’t keep up with the grind, but those that stayed see that brighter tomorrow that every NPC is always gabbing about to whichever Guardian will listen.

Bungie is not the same developer that created Halo; that much has been clear ever since the early days of Destiny 1. Ever since Destiny 2 was announced, though, it’s as if they’re not even the same developer that made Destiny 1. The first Destiny had many flaws, as did the company that made it, but Bungie made up for those flaws with real improvements to the game and a passion for it that poured through their announcements, trailers and developer diaries. Fans were willing to stick around because they could feel that passion and the game really did get better.

"Outside of the Prismatic Matrix, players may continue to earn Bright Engrams each time they level up, and they can still purchase these engrams if they want a chance to get everything from the Season 3 catalog. Additionally, we’re increasing the number of items available from Tess each week with Bright Dust, from 14 to 18 items.

Whether they intended it or not, when Bungie stated during the livestream that community was what bound Destiny together, they made relationship clear. Destiny is about playing with friends new and old. It could be a one off, with the new Guided Games or something more concrete with friends who have banded together again to face the encroaching darkness. If community is so important to Destiny, it was only understandable that this path would be traversed eventually. Relationship, is something most of us take part in everyday whether we like it or not. Even the Guardians in the Tower couldn’t escape the inevitable crouchers that would surround you or the dance parties. Oh, the dance parties. People can’t help but be drawn to each other, even if it means joining others only in digital spaces.

I wasn't a huge fan of any of the guns in the Destiny 2 Beta, although I'm usually picky and stick with the ones I really like, but they do seem different and cater to different needs. You're also given a lot of options in the Beta which is nice, including the ability to test out all of the different kinds of guns. They've changed the organization of guns as well, and I'm not too much of a fan, although I could see it working once you have a whole host of guns to choose from. Instead of Primary, Secondary, and Heavy, it's Kinetic, Energy, and Power. Heavy and Power are synonymous, while Kinetic means regular weapons with no energy ability attached and Energy simply means that they do. Energies, remember, are the Solar, Void and Arc powers that a weapon might come with. So now, if one is Kinetic and one is Energy, you could have two assault rifles, two hand cannons or any mix of what we think of now as Primary and Secondary weapons in those slots. What I ended up using, though, was a sidearm in the Kinetic slot and an assault rifle in the Energy slot, which meant I spawned with the sidearm, which was weird. It's different, but I think that when I actually start using it it will make more sense.

Destiny 2 Beta: First Impressions

Destiny 2 looks substantially better than the original game. Models and textures are more detailed, the worlds are bigger and more varied and the cinematics are top notch CG. It’s shaping up to be a stunning package on PS4 and PC. While the PS4 build we played was running on PS4 Pro, it wasn’t easy to discern any upgrades due to the size of the screen we played on. PC players, on the other hand, are in for a real treat. On PC, we did notice that pop-in was far less severe and it was nice finally getting to play Destiny at 60 frames-per-second. Unfortunately, the console version still runs at 30 frames-per-second.

Destiny 2 is laying the groundwork for outstanding storytelling and unforgettable moments. It's setting a solid foundation for the game it always wanted to be, while delivering the things Destiny never could. It’s an exciting time to be a Guardian even if it means the Last City falling only to pick ourselves up one more time. At least this time, there are those worth fighting for.

What does relationship mean for lore though? Of course, the actual relationship aspect of Destiny is there, but it’s always been there. Destiny 2 is not only creating worlds, though, it’s actually telling stories within those worlds. The people that inhabit these spaces are important and Bungie seems to be doing everything to make the player care about them. From the looks of interaction with those around you while traversing the many environments Destiny 2 has to offer, the aspect of relationship is everywhere. Zavala giving command to the player and other NPCs around him. It creates a sense of urgency immediately invoking a compassion that only comes from feeling connected to others. Then there is the EDZ a new area for players to call home. The people they were protecting have started forming communities here. Actively participating in these places will create a more grounded sense of community. It’s the reason WoW cities felt so lived in; the people that inhabit these spaces are going about their daily lives. It isn’t about, go out, kill aliens, return. It feels like being the Pavlovian dog waiting for the treat. None of that seems to be in Destiny 2.

Not yet, but I promise that I will talk to you all about when it will happen as soon as we nail that down. It will happen this summer, obviously, and then on September 8 Destiny 2 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One. We’ll solidify and announce the PC ship date when we have it ready.

That same week the raid dropped, I was able to pull a fireteam together for the weekend, landing epically on Leviathan's Golden walkway towards the gates of opulence we made our way in. Having watched and read up on what to do because we didn’t feel like messing around with figuring out mechanics, the Bath House was up first. We did not succeed on getting it that first night and spent a number of hours just trying to get coordination down, eventually calling it and deciding to try again the next day. Meeting up the next night we aced it no problem, coordination was up, fatigue was gone and we were on point. Next was the all too known (by now) Pleasure Gardens. Stealth isn’t destiny 2 News’s strong point and that’s all that will be said on the matter. What did cause us grief was attempting this freaking room for the next four hours while the dog (bosses) continually got more glitchy. They would cut in and out, reset their paths, see one of us even though they were facing another direction and it lead to general frustration among the whole group. We had figured out what to do but the game mechanics weren’t helping, especially when they constantly kept breaking. At this point we had already spent nine hours banging our heads against just two rooms. The fireteam called it quits for the second night and a third night seemed less hopeful.

The strike displayed just how big of a leap the sequel is over its predecessor. The Inverted Spire is an exciting mission from beginning to end, showing off the design philosophy that will hopefully permeate the entire game. The maps were far more open, allowing us to approach the battles in certain ways. At one point, we had to cross a huge battlefield with Vex and Cabal battling in the craters. While there will be a lot of returning enemies, there will also be plenty of new ones. For example, the Cabal have War Beasts, doglike creatures that aren’t afraid to get in close and maul unsuspecting Guardians. Even the returning enemies have some neat new abilities. The Cabal Phalanx now has the ability to put down a bigger shield for a small amount of time, meaning you’ll have to jump over and walk around if you want to get them.

Bungie unloaded a full clip of Destiny to the face and the feels are real . Remember when I said to pay attention to Zavala? Destiny 2 immediately proves it has more heart than the first game, even with all the expansions.
Does Bungie Really Care About What Their Fans Think Anymore?

While thinking about all of this, one other raid consistently keeps popping into my head, Vault of Glass. Ask any veteran Destiny player and they will probably say Vault of Glass is one of the best, if not best raid Destiny has ever had. It was a perfect blend of platforming, puzzles and bosses that created a ridiculously fun raid that could be played with ease over and over again. Even when taking new people in, it was understood that the longest it would take was minimum six hours. Leviathan was a false sale. Guardians struggle with it even when knowing the strategies for each room, the rewards are the most lackluster yet with no armor or weapons dropping to even give the slightest sense of accomplishment, and new players will probably not want to touch it because it requires a level of communication and coordination that only close friends, professional streamers or elite gamers really have.

Destiny 2 did manage to fix a couple of small issues from the first game, but it’s otherwise taken several steps back. Its consumable cosmetics and loot box-style method of awarding gear encourages hoarding and disengagement from the end-game grind. Its failure to offer at least as many features as the original Destiny has unsurprisingly led to rapid onset of player boredom. Worst of all, its neutering of the PvE’s moment-to-moment gameplay has resulted in a sequel that just isn’t as much fun to play. Destiny 2 may indeed have a loot problem as so many are loudly pointing out, but that’s small potatoes compared to these major fundamental flaws.

Placing all the powerful weapons in the same category has good potential for PvP, but it’s also a functional misstep in terms of PvE. Power weapon ammo drops more often in Destiny 2 than heavy weapon ammo in Destiny 1, but still not nearly as often as kinetic or energy weapon ammo. So right away there’s less incentive to use that ammo for any weapon other than a rocket or grenade launcher. Why waste that relatively rare and precious ammo on a sniper rifle when it could instead be spent on something much more powerful? It’s the same issue with abilities in that they’re all restricted by ridiculously-slow cooldowns. Instead of enjoying the ability to toss a grenade into a group of minor enemies, dodge around the battlefield at one’s leisure or even pop a super to take on a mid-boss, the game encourages players to bank them instead. To use one’s abilities in any situation other than the most desperate is to see them go to waste. Nobody wants to be caught staring at a cool-down meter when they’re stuck in a tight spot. These can at least be adjusted a bit with mods, but who wants to waste their mods on anything other than top-tier armor? The net result is gameplay that’s gone from fast-paced, fluid and fun, to something slow, limited and dull with no incentive whatsoever to make use of the game’s most enjoyable weapons and powers. If the developers truly felt that these changes were necessary to achieve a more fun and balanced Crucible, then perhaps it would have been better to just separate the Crucible from the rest of the game.

Speaking of enemies, Destiny 2 doesn’t add anything new to the mix. Each of the factions from the original game returns with a few new units, but they don’t change the fact that these are the same enemies we’ve been shooting for the past three years. Considering we’re exploring new, exotic worlds, it would have been nice to get some new enemy species thrown in.

We want to continue experimenting and evolving Eververse to improve player experience, and give more paths to earn Eververse rewards. Please give us your feedback once Season 3 begins, as we’re dedicated to improving these systems moving forward."

While not able to pull a fireteam together that initial first day, something I’ve managed to do with all other raids in the past, I was content to watch others attempt this beast of a raid. It was exciting to see the first fireteam complete it in just six hours and reassuring. Then talks began to crop up and not the good kind. Here were the best of the best saying that it would take everything in a fireteam's power to pull off this raid. And why? Apparently because it was the most demanding raid out of all destiny 2 Strikes raids. They aren’t wrong.

Convinced yet, Guardian? Ready to come back to the fold instead of drinking your woes away locked in a dark dingy Tower bar? Sure, you might see Cayde-6 roll on through, but does he really have anything interesting to say yet? He’s just waiting for the action he has no idea is on the way. The Cabal have been a long time coming and what better way to kick off Destiny 2 then an all-out assault on the place Guardians call home? Get it while it’s hot Guardian, the Tower won’t be around for much longer and all that hard work you’ve put in over the years (or ignored), well either keep at it or kiss it good bye. See you in space, Guardian.

While there no new classes, each of the three returning classes get a new subclass. Hunters get Arcstrider, Titans get Sentinel and Warlocks get Dawnblade. Each of the new subclasses is a joy to use and players can unlock their other Destiny 1 subclasses (Gunslinger, Striker and Voidwalker) and The Taken King subclasses (Nightstalker, Sunbreaker and Stormcaller) if the new ones aren’t their cup of tea. Each returning class has been tweaked to make them more viable in Destiny 2, and both new and old are fun to play.

Destiny 2 Beta Shows Worrisome Signs to Fans

The Forza series has never been my cup of tea, at least not until Forza Horizon. Driving through the beautiful scenery of Colorado in a semi-open world environment really made me appreciate the mechanics behind the series, while at the same time had me lightly touching upon the more hardcore tuning aspects. Turn10 Studios and Playground Games were able to expand upon this, bringing us to the luscious and visually breathtaking Southern Europe. It’s the interconnected world that ties into Xbox Live’s social features that really brings the world to life, as driving through the vast open world will never make you feel alone. If there’s one racing game you need to play, it’s Forza Horizon 2; it’s certainly the closest we’ll get to another Burnout Paradise.

The first thing to strike (no pun) in the Destiny 2 Beta was how well-worn it felt. Like wrapping up in a comfy blanket that is always waiting when returning to the family home…while it crumbles and burns to ash. The one thing that’s been on the brain is how Destiny would need to pull a Halo maneuver if it hoped to pull itself up from the original launch, and so far, so good. Destiny 2’s beta does exactly what Bungie’s previous title Halo did before it, taking everything it learned from the first game and improving on that at every turn. The gun play is tighter, the environments more stunning (not just visually) and the state of destiny 2 money Guide in a better place than when it started. It’s a shame then that the beta doesn’t offer more, because the sparseness of it all itches at the back of the mind. Why only show the opening mission, a strike, and two crucible maps/modes?

Over the course of its lifespan, most players agreed that Destiny’s most persistent problem was a general lack of content. There just wasn’t enough to do between DLC expansions. The thing is, those expansions never actually helped all that much. It would only take a week or two for the hardcore crowd to start complaining about a lack of content again. Some would blame those players for spending too much time with the game and burning through that content too quickly, but it’s only natural that players would quickly burn through expansions when they often didn’t include many new features. I was cautiously optimistic that Destiny 2 would address the real issue at the heart of its forebear’s content woes, but this sadly hasn’t been the case. It’s added a few minor features in the form of the new director, a map, small activities in its explorable spaces, milestones and flashpoints, but that that’s it. Oh wait, scratch that. Milestones and flashpoints are just re-branded bounties, so they’re actually not new at all. So not only does it offer less content than Destiny’s final form, but it still hasn’t addressed the first game’s core problem.

When D4 was first announced, it sounded ridiculous. Swery65, a man who made a name for himself with the over the top and overly charismatic Deadly Premonition, was creating a Kinect game exclusively for Xbox One? It just sounded out of the ordinary, even by his standards. But alas, D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die is one of the most charming, most comical games of the year. While it’s run almost entirely on quick time events though either a controller or hand motions, it’s the loveable cast of characters and intriguing storyline that really make D4 special. If there’s one mission for the gaming community, it’s to ensure that Swery65 and the team at Access Games finishes the episodic adventure, as two chapters and a prologue are just not enough.

A series of new locations on Earth, Titan, Nessus and Io replace the locales from the Destiny 1 era, and are mostly huge improvements. The open areas may not necessarily be bigger but are filled to the brim with more geometry, exploration, and activities. Returning activities like Public Events have been revamped to offer more engaging encounters, and new activities like Adventures allow players to dig deeper into the lore of the world. New Faction Leaders populate each destination, but they feel lonely and out of place. Exploring the open areas still feels too empty as the player count has not been increased, nor are there any other NPCs to interact with. Faction Leaders are a great start, but it’s disappointing that there isn’t more to the open areas other than to mine Lost Sectors and Public Events, walk up to a flag to initiate an Adventure or kill infinitely respawning enemies.

Then thoughts of what Bungie had envisioned for Guided Games began cropping up in my head. When Bungie announced Guided Games, it seemed exciting. Here was a feature that would ease the stress of finding a group and knowing that group could be handpicked by the seeker. It meant not having to sift through toxicity, feeling a bit closer to strangers and maybe making a friend or two along the way. Guided Games has a long way to go and needs some serious refinement. I was not about to spend another hour waiting for the next group, for fear of having the same thing happen all over again. Destiny 2’s Leviathan was proving to be more of a monster than first imagined.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Don't Pre-Order Just Yet

Now, who doesn't love a good video game dog? It seems that over the last three years, companion canines have become a growing trend that players absolutely love. Dogmeat from Fallout 4 was the latest example of how fulfilling it is to traverse a large Open World Games vehicles world with a loyal dog by your side. The trailer didn't necessarily show any indication that you could own a dog, but it did make a big deal about animal interactions in the scene from inside a very muddy town that included a scruffy dog barking at a pack of vultures. Though Rockstar hasn't necessarily dived into party member, mechanic role-playing games, it doesn't mean they'd never included it in their games. Don't be surprised if there's a portion of this game dedicated to your relationship with a dog. Heck, Rockstar has even gone as far as to create entire missions centered around Franklin's pet dog, Chop, in GTAV . There's always h

For quite a while now, Rockstar games has been a household name, famous for bringing some of the biggest and best games to our consoles. Originally created as a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar NYC was founded in 1998, now with 10 subsidiaries of its own. They boast a wide array of games, such as the Red Dead series, Grand Theft Auto series, Max Payne and L.A Noire . Rockstar have never been afraid to push the boundaries of social acceptance, willingly throwing obscene game-play, sexual content, offensive themes and just outright violence into their games. It's safe to say the majority of us lapped it up and continue to do so today, as Rockstar's games continue to offer an experience unlike any others. They have managed to create multiple worlds, with Red Dead and GTA at the forefront. Even though they are miles apart chronologically, the experiences are some of the most enjoyable on the mar

Max Payne is a name familiar to gamers everywhere. The series follows the main character Max Payne, a former DEA agent, on his revenge mission against drug dealers who murdered his wife and child. It wasn't until the third instalment in the series that Rockstar fully took over its publication, with our hero now working in the private security sector. They took Max over to Brazil to battle against the gangs of São Paolo in a bid to rescue his boss' wife. Don't marry in this universe, it doesn't seem to end w

I remember when my Dad brought home my first PlayStation, along with Final Fanstasy VII. I was so excited to be clutching that monster case containing 3 discs. In a world where discs are becoming a thing of the past in favour of digital downloads, it seems crazy to think that any game created after 2010 would need anything like. This was not the case for L.A Noire on Xbox 360. Rockstar had put a lot of effort into their facial technology for this game, which was groundbreaking at the time, and it meant that actors would act scenes from the game to give a realistic feel to interviews in game, allowing us to judge their responses based on facial movements. This amount of data meant that the game had to span three discs on the Xbox format as they could not hold it on a single disc, unlike PlayStation who adopted the Blu-Ray disc format. Gamer's became upset with having to swap discs throughout the game, questioning whether this technology was worth spending mass amounts of money on when facial animators could have done a similar job. We all enjoy a smooth running game experience and this is exactly what Xbox players didn't

If there's one thing Rockstar nails, it's scope. Their games might not be as 'deep' of role-playing games as their Bethesda counterparts, but they're every bit as meaty and way more technically advance. Rockstar's major releases always push the boundaries of what people think is capable on the current hardware. They take their engine and push it to its absolute limits. With the recent release of PS4 Pro and Xbox's Project Scorpio imminent, look for Red Dead Redemption 2 to be featured heavily on both of those platforms. As technology progresses and the tools game developers have multiplied exponentially, so does Rockstar's vision of what a video game can be. Look for Red Dead Redemption 2 to be the prettiest game you've ever laid your eyes

But... we’ve been here before, haven’t we? It’s a recently-scribed tale as old as time: A sophisticated, wondrous looking trailer drops for an upcoming big-name title. Gamers then drop some serious coin on pre-orders for the game, only to be delivered a half-finished, buggy game that fails to meet expectations. This was notoriously the case for both _ No Man’s Sky _ and _ Sea of Thieves

We all know that GTA V 's online multiplayer community is one of the largest and most complex communities to ever exist, containing a grand number of players all vying to be the biggest, baddest and richest. Between online missions and heists, building yourself up from the ground in-game can be a daunting and lengthy experience. Starting out with nothing up against people who have everything, you begin to ask yourself: how? How can these people have so much when you have been grinding away just to buy yourself a crappy little garage on the bad side of town. Two words: Shark Cards. A common theme in multiplayer games these days is the ability to buy in game add-ons to give yourself an advantage against opponents. GTA V is no stranger to this tactic, making purchasable Shark Cards available to boost your in-game cash for real life tender. Although many people may think this is fair game, a large number of players who aren't willing to part with their hard earned cash have voiced their distaste for the use of the Shark Cards, as it means they are not able to compete with those who use t

The European Dead Zone is Born to Keep Destiny 2 Alive

There you have it. While there is a lot more history and detailed information regarding specific individuals and enemies during the conflicts of Destiny, this is a broad overview of what happened throughout the course of the game. You should now be prepared for Destiny 2 when it hits PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, with the PC version coming October 24.

[Jason Harris]: It’s really an amazing narrative opportunity to strip away the powers. It’s the tried and true, "is Superman really Superman without his powers," scenario. If given the opportunity, we would have loved to do more missions without players having their Light, but that is not the case. I looked at it as nothing more than a great story opportunity.

[JH]: There’s two key things going on with Ghaul. One is giving him a goal and objective that he desperately wants that we as players can relate to. What do you care about? It’s your light, your progress, your powers. You care about that which the Traveler has given you. Ghaul wants that, and it’s the thing that you’re both going to fight for. The second is, when you start digging into the story, you see that he has a drive and obsession with being worthy. He doesn’t want to just take it, he wants to earn it.

The final piece of DLC is more of an isolated incident on Earth, with a couple of overlaying issues after the fact. This takes the player to the Plaguelands, a sealed off area within the Cosmodrone that houses a familiar but new threat. You meet with Saladin Forge, the last remaining Iron Lord who seeks aid from the Guardians. For clarity, Iron Lords are essentially noble Guardians who have taken up the mantle to defend and rebuild civilization, protecting the walls of the Last City.

Placing all the powerful weapons in the same category has good potential for PvP, but it’s also a functional misstep in terms of PvE. Power weapon ammo drops more often in Destiny 2 Strikes 2 than heavy weapon ammo in Destiny 1, but still not nearly as often as kinetic or energy weapon ammo.

Having faction leaders like Devrim is a step forward for Destiny’s open areas. He’s a strong personality, and it is good to listen to other characters that aren’t Nolan North’s-voiced Ghost. The inclusion of NPCs, however, still don’t provide players with everything they need, as you’ll still need to travel back to social spaces to decrypt engrams and access your vault. A more seamless experience that incorporated social spaces into the open area would have been much preferred.

It’s hard to believe that it has already been three years since Destiny first hit the scene . It came from a developer that had, and still has, an incredible track record when it comes to space shooters, so it’s no surprise that their next project after Halo took off in the way that it did. Love it or hate it, Destiny has quickly become one of the biggest new franchises released this generation thanks to tight mechanics and addictive gameplay.

One day long ago, a gigantic intergalactic sphere called The Traveler appeared in our solar system, most notably making contact on Mars. This mysterious colossal-sized globe was not a world conquering alien, but instead friendly, helping humans accelerate technological advancement dramatically, allowing them to traverse the stars, terraform planets and build towards a better future. This was considered the Golden Age of humanity, even boosting the average lifespan of man threefold. Unfortunately, that prosperity didn’t last long as a deadly and ominous force called The Darkness appeared, destroying anything in its path and nearly tearing down everything Humans had built. This kicked off an event called The Collapse and everything in the galaxy took a toll because of it. The most important and unfortunate casualty was The Traveler itself as, in its last act, protected the Earth with its unresponsive body shielding the newly-built Last City.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Forces You to Slow Down and It's For the Better

In a time where open-world games are a dime a dozen, my problem with most titles in the genre is that they rarely force you to engage with the world that has been laid out. Instead, developers just use the confines of an open-world to place the structure of their game inside of, because it's the normal thing to do more often than not nowadays. Simply existing in an open-world though isn't enough when you don't feel any sort of connection to the environment that you're within. Forcing you to explore and take your time in the world allows you to get to know the area which you find yourself in. This is something that I think The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did so perfectly last year , and it's something that I think finds success here in Red Dead Redemption 2 as well.

While hope may be more abundant in relation to a game within the beloved _ Red Dead _ franchise, there is a case to be made that the trust and optimism in Rockstar’s delivery of the title may be misled, as outlined in u/kentuckythumbpicker's post on Redd

Red Dead Redemption ’s Online component also set a new bar for sandbox multiplayer games. The ability to create and organize gangs as well as engage in intense shootouts with other skilled players set the framework for what would become GTA V ’s amazing multiplayer experience. And who could possibly forget the genre changing DLC expansion, Undead Nightmare , that turned to the American West into a zombie infested hell hole, complete with rideable demon hor

But... we’ve been here before, haven’t we? It’s a recently-scribed tale as old as time: A sophisticated, wondrous looking trailer drops for an upcoming big-name title. Gamers then drop some serious coin on pre-orders for the game, only to be delivered a half-finished, buggy game that fails to meet expectations. This was notoriously the case for both _ No Man’s Sky _ and _ Sea of Thieves

By forcing you to slow down and complete duties that seem lackluster, you slowly start to feel more present in this world and grow closer to your own version of Arthur. If Red Dead Redemption 2 was just all about riding around the West and shooting up saloons with your revolver, you'd likely feel disconnected from your avatar. The game then just becomes a power trip and the character that you end up playing is just an amplified version of your own wants and desires. Doing simple chores though such as chopping wood, skinning animals and dragging them back to my horse, and donating to the gang's larger pool of money has made me feel more of a bond with Arthur than any other character I've played as in recent memory. My bond with the character thus far has been established in these small moments, not the large ones.

However, some of these stores are hiding more than they seem, as some of the in-game shops and locations may be hiding illegal businesses for you to discover and take down. While you can look around the stores themselves for any illicit business that may be going on, look for things like locked metal doors to get a hint that the business you are entering may be hiding something, which could potentially be to Arthur's gain.

Another spooky location can be found North of the Grizzlies, just above the "N" in Ambarino. Searching the woods around there reveals an apparently abandoned shelter that appears to have previously housed a witch. One that has not been abandoned for too long, either, because inside is a seemingly fresh cauldron full of some sort of bubbling liquid. If you're capable of mustering the courage required to take a swig, you'll black out and reawaken a distance away from the cauld

The sense of discovery that video games offer is a feeling almost unmatched by any other form of entertainment. Deep down, you know that a developer went out of their way to create a mystery for the player to solve, or to put in a cool reference to another work of art. But in the heat of the moment, in the thrill of the chase, you feel like a detective pulling at a thread, ready to unveil whatever may be behind the curtain. There are few developers better at eliciting this feeling than Rockstar , and the Easter Eggs in Red Dead Redemption 2 certainly keep their reputation alive. Here's what we've found so far in Red Dead Redemptio

Having now played the game for many dozens of hours, these are just a few of the tips and suggestions that I have for players looking to get the most out of Red Dead Redemption 2 with the game's launch today on PS4 and Xbox One. By no means are these essential tips for completing the game, given how massive and Open World Games Missions it is for players to experiment and play how they like, but they should be helpful in uncovering every inch that Rockstar's most immersive world yet has to offer.

One of the more gritty locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 is called the Meteor House. Dubbed so, because everybody inside the house appears to have been utterly disemboweled by a stray meteor. If you've got a mind to check out the scene, you can head just West of Brandywine Drop, keeping South of the Abandoned Trading P

Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed: 15 Reasons This Could Spell DOOM For Rockstar

While Red Dead Redemption 2 is clearly a game that we think highly of here at DualShockers , it's not one that is infallible by any means. In fact, since its release this past Friday, the most common complaint that I have heard not only from some of my friends but fellow writers here at DualShockers is that Red Dead Redemption 2 is far too slow and plodding. Even after getting past the game's initial opening hours and having the world start to Open world games vehicles up, traveling from one location to another takes far too long, animations are too slow, and there's not the typical intuitiveness that streamlines many of the systems and mechanics that you might find in other open-world games.

It's an item for the laning phase to begin with, which means it loses its stacking bonus when being completed with a higher-powered item. Moreover, it can't grant much health, compared to the Phage or even Spectral Cowl which can provide much better MS boots an power spikes, respectiv

What a low move to actually make assassin’s more powerful. The only thing saving the squishies before was the power of supports. Take away their power and they’re useless yet again against that gap-closing assassin. Is this what you want, R

GameStop stated that the game’s delay would not affect the overall sale of video games in the fall. This could be because the impact of the game has already lessened, meaning that it wouldn’t have been the end-all game many are hyping it up to be. Instead, moving it to the beginning of the year simply moves it out of the way of potentially bigger titles that could steal its sales. The holiday season is incredibly important in the games industry because everyone wants the best new game as a gift. Rockstar could have realized that even that time of year wouldn’t have helped Red Dead in any real way, so moving the game’s release date at least moved it out of the way of other big play

One side of Garen shows us his cowardice and laziness of refusing to farm and instead camping in the brush. The other side of him shows us that "fear no evil" side where he refuses to give up or call himself weak. He will take on any foe no matter what his life is. Sometimes it works out, but other times…he kind of falls to a jungle buff. Speaking of, does anyone else remember lizards? Good times, am I ri

It’s all starting to make sense. Why nerf the heals? To make the assassins and ninjas stronger! No wonder they have medical skins. It’s because when people get wounded, they gain from it. It’s all a sort of euphemism used to describe the gold (and eliminations) gained by taking away the power of healing. When magic is no longer in use, champions must go to the doctor to heal. We use "heal" lightly because we pretty much mean bursted down with the energy of these so-called doctor assass

Now, while I enjoy that Red Dead Redemption 2 has built in so many things that force you to slow down, I think it's important to note that this probably isn't something I would want to see from every video game in existence. Trust me, I enjoy how streamlined most other games are now as much as the next guy. But in Red Dead Redemption 2 , I think I've started to see early on in my playthrough the larger purpose that Rockstar has with all of these added elements to the game.

While the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of GTA V prepped Rockstar for working on new hardware, they still weren’t creating an entirely new game. Even the first-person mode was just a new perspective. The game itself didn’t change drastically when it jumped consoles. With Red Dead 2 , the development team over at Rockstar is making their very first next generation game from the ground up. While the new hardware has been praised by developers, Rockstar is known for pushing hardware to its limits, and creating graphically stunning games, this new challenge could be proving more difficult than they anticipated, drastically hampering the game’s developm

While this could turn out to be a good thing, it could also be a sign of bad things brewing in the background. Rockstar is spinning a lot of different plates, but Grand Theft Auto V released in 2013, and the company needs to get a game out the door to stay relevant. Hopefully, Red Dead Redemption 2 turns out well in the end. That being said, wishing for a game's success has never done anyone any good. So we're going to take a glass half empty approach and look at just how Red Dead Redemption 2 's Delay could doom Rockstar as a comp

One of my all-time favorite League of Legends comics. It’s the truth about who Garen really is, and it makes way too much sense. He’s big, tough, and manly, right? Or maybe not. What if his armor is really his entire faux body? What if Garen is secretly a yordle in disguise? It makes so much se

In fall of 2016, Rockstar teased us with several images that hinted towards the existence of Red Dead Redemption 2 before finally dropping its first trailer. It’s now been almost a full year since that trailer released. The game was originally slated to hit shelves in the fall of 2017, but the recent delay means that the total time between announcement and release will have been roughly a year and a half. While many are still incredibly excited about the game, these long, drawn out pre-release cycles tend to detract from a game’s impact upon release. Rockstar would have been better off announcing the game in one fell swoop six months before release and then going quiet until lau

One of the spookier finds thus far has been the discovery of a woman chained inside of an outhouse. She's been disfigured and continues, with apparent difficulty, chanting off numbers in a specific order. If you'd like to see or hear her for yourself, you can head to the Braithwaite Estate. On the outer edge is the outhouse with the inmate in question. What's her story? What do the numbers lead to? Is she locked in there for good reason? Or is it simply because she's differ

The sense of discovery that video games offer is a feeling almost unmatched by any other form of entertainment. It’s not really any better. As hilarious as the faces are, let’s not miss the real point, which is that supports aren’t useless and wards win games. Wait, is that the point or is the point that supports are useless and so are wards? Is this satirical or is it trying to teach us something important? It lies embedded and forgotten in an old tree trunk, awaiting its new dest

At the PlayStation Experience we learned that a new God of War game is in development, but that we might have to wait another year. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t get a teaser. God of War III’s teaser trailer went live June 2008, a full two years before the game hit store shelves. It’s been five years since we’ve gotten a proper God of War game, and many are itching to know what’s going to happen in Kratos’ next outing. Hopefully we’ll get a few hints in 2015.

Back in 2007 we were all tired of World War II, and the jump to Modern Warfare was fresh and exciting. The opposite is true today. We’re tired of Modern Warfare and semi-Future Warfare. It’s time for FPS games to try something new, by going into the past. Rumors have been floating around for a while now that Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game would return to World War II, something I very much hope for. We need a change, and sometimes that change can be found by returning to your roots.

The delay of Red Dead Redemption did not come with new details on the game. Several new screenshots accompanied the news, but these do not make us less worried. All screenshots do is prove that the game still looks great. We don’t know how the game looks in action, though, which can be a worry. The delay may only be a few months, but news of a delay is rarely good news, as it means that the game in question is in a rough state. Showing cold, hard gameplay would appease the public’s fears of quality and get fans even more excited for the game when it finally released in 2018. Until then, all we can do is speculate about how Rockstar may have evolved the ser

As a modern Western in the vein of recent classics like 3:10 to Yuma , The Proposition takes the essential elements of the Western genre and invigorates it with more contemporary filmmaking techniques and some particularly striking violence that pulls you into the experience. Aside from those similarities though, the mood and atmosphere that The Proposition captures feels very much in line with the way that Rockstar depicts its Western Open world games patch notes-world in the Red Dead games, and that feeling will only be expanded with the ways that Red Dead Redemption 2 (so far) seems to be delivering an even more striking and dynamic world to explore.

In the years since its release, The Searchers has long been held up as one of the greatest Westerns of all time for a variety of aspects, from its beautiful cinematography that captured the American West in all its grandeur and one of the best performances that John Wayne has ever brought to his long stable of Western films. However, what really sets The Searchers apart is the fact that the film brought a sense of maturity and darkness to Western films at the height of their popularity.

10 Best Easter Eggs Hidden In Red Dead Redemption 2

Hold your horses, partner. While Rockstar has essentially allowed gamers to mod _ GTA V’s _ single-player campaign, the same cannot be said about the game’s online experience. It makes sense that Rockstar would want to maintain an online integrity to allow all players to enjoy the same experience, but at the end of the day, it is the outspoken gaming community that ultimately decides what is acceptable in the games they p

Member the games you used to play? We member. The basement at the Hardcore Gamer office has a section known as the Crust Room, with an old grey couch and a big old CRT TV. All the classic systems are down there collecting dust, so in an effort to improve the cleanliness of our work space, we dust off these old consoles every so often and put an old game through its paces, just to make sure everything stays in working order. We even have a beige computer with a floppy disk drive.

Ever hear of the legend of Lucky Luke? Yeah neither have I, dear readers. That's probably because it’s based on a series of French comics dating back to the late 40s. As obscure as it is I'm surprised there are so many games based on the character. I grabbed one for my favorite console, the Super Nintendo, and was not impressed. It looks good (resembling the comic to a degree), but I wouldn't call it exciting. Lucky Luke is slow as molasses in terms of walking and jumping, which makes platforming a needlessly hard challenge. Shooting is no better either. Worse yet, your objective is not clearly defined in a level. I don't expect games to hold my hand, but give me a break. At least try to be decent to your play

Gunslingers in the wild west have been the subject of many memorable video games such as Gun, Custer's Revenge, Lethal Enforcers II and probably another one or two are in there somewhere. What is generally considered the most celebrated is 2010's Red Dead Redemption, or Grand Theft Equine as it's commonly referred. Like one or two other Rockstar titles, Red Dead Redemption was met with near universal acclaim and is still fondly remembered almost a decade later. The upcoming sequel is one of the most anticipated titles of 2018, and with that release just around the corner it seems like a good time to look back on the tale of John Marshton.

Red Dead Redemption was a blast, with numerous side quests, activities and just a big Open World games walkthrough sandbox world to play in. Great game mechanics and design made it fun, a great story is what made it memorable. The pacing of the story doesn't ever hit any major lulls and the character of Marshton is sympathetic enough you end up rooting for him, since after all he's a good guy who just wants to be back with his family. And in trying to get back with his family he ends up being jerked around by the government. After jumping through endless hoops from the government they betray him. The ending of Red Dead Redemption is one of the sadder endings in a video game. The true ending occurs in 1914, and while there is a shot at setting things right, it ultimately feels hollow and unsatisfying. This sounds like a knock against the game, but in reality it is a testament to how powerful the narrative of Red Dead Redemption actually was.

This is just a small problem, but it doesn’t make sense to me why you can’t run in camp. I get that they want you to slow down and talk to your crew, but come on. Sometimes they have nothing to say and all I need to do is get to my tent so I can fast travel, or go to bed. Arthur's bed, I should mention, is always the furthest away from the gate. It's like a weird punishm

There’s basically no good version, of the two options, for fast travel in the game. Here is what they give you. Right off the bat once you enter the first town, Valentine, you can take a taxi coach to other towns and big landmarks that you have visited. For a fee, of course. You can eventually upgrade your camp so you can fast travel from there, but that's all. It makes tackling the side activities needlessly tedious more so than a lot of them, like hunting, already are. Rockstar, this is 2018. You need a better sys

There is a linear story path to follow, but there are plenty of side opportunities to engage in. Each region has a few forts that need to be taken over, much like the same style as the battle at Fort Mercer. There are many characters that require assistance from John and these quests are usually entertaining. One quest involves a man with an undying love for his woman and another series of events from a quest giver involves a man who really gets under John's skin in the last quest he gives. Random events happen throughout the world such as highway robberies, hangings and other random encounters with strangers, making the game world feel alive. Rockstar games are known for their sense of humor and some of their dark humor naturally crept into Red Dead Redemption. One of my favorite achievements I ever unlocked happened in this game. A few years ago my girlfriend was hanging out at my apartment and I decided to show her this game (she may have bought it for me for a birthday present but I can't remember). I thought it would be funny to lasso a girl and leave her on the train tracks, like a mustache twirling silent film villain. As the locomotive turned the damsel in distress into a much gooier state of existence, an achievement popped up on screen. It's good to know that my sociopathic tendencies aren't so unusual that the developers weren't able to anticipate my behavior.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Forces You to Slow Down and It's For the Better

While Red Dead Redemption 2 is very much a "Rockstar game" that allows players to create as much horse-and carriage-fueled chaos as they like, one of the most notable additions to the game is the integration of new layers of interactivity between the player and other NPCs out in the world, including the ability to take a bit more of a pacifist approach to most encounters.

This may seem a little selfish, but I really want support for PS3 and Xbox 360 to end. It’s not that I don’t like the systems. I love them both and have cherished my time with both, but it is time for the industry to move. Continuing development on these old systems continues to hold back games like Call of Duty, Destiny, Battlefield, and Far Cry. Developers can’t properly take advantage of the extra power in these new consoles if they’re being tied down by PS3 and Xbox 360. Now, developers can make last-gen exclusive games like Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, but cross-gen development needs to stop in 2015.

December 2014 was a terrible time to be a gamer. Not only did we have to contend with the buggy launches of DriveClub, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but we also had to deal with Lizard Squad who sought to ruin Christmas for so many gamers. With no purpose or intent, Lizard Squad bombarded PSN and Xbox Live servers with DDOS attacks. This crippled PSN and Xbox Live throughout the month, but also on Christmas Day when thousands of new PS4 and Xbox One owners were unwrapping their consoles. These consoles need firmware update to properly function, something that can’t be done if the consoles can’t connect online. We hope that in 2015 this malicious group stays away from PSN and Xbox Live.

Uncharted 4, Halo 5 and The Legend of Zelda will be the poster-children for the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U throughout 2015. All three will launch in time for the Holiday, and you bet people will be trying to tear them down. PS4 lovers will attack Halo and Zelda, Xbox lovers will attack Uncharted and Zelda and Wii U lovers will attack Uncharted and Halo. Why? There’s no benefit to tearing down any of the three games. All three games are going to be amazing, and if there was any year to try and get all three consoles then 2015 is that year.

Players take on the role of Arthur Morgan, who starts the game as the right-hand man to gang leader Dutch van der Linde. After a ferry heist goes awry, the gang is forced to flee the town of Blackwater and live a life on the run from the law and others hellbent on seeing the gangs’ demise. The gang performs various odd jobs and heists to fund their survival, but Dutch’s leadership and decisions eventually begin to take their toll on Arthur, who starts to question Dutch's intentions. _ Red Dead Redemption _ _ 2 _ features many of the characters from the first game – including primary protagonist, John Marston – with the story ultimately tying into the beginning of the original game _

Assassin’s Creed: Victory was rudely outed December 2014 as the next Assassin’s Creed game, and there’s one thing everyone is thinking right now; please don’t be like Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Unity was a broken wreck at launch. Riddled with bugs, glitches, a Co-Op feature that barely works, and a continuously dipping framerate, Unity is the poster-boy for how not to launch a game. True, the experience has gotten better with patches, but that’s no excuse for launching Unity in the state it was in. Victory cannot achieve victory if it is in anyway like Unity. Hopefully, with Ubisoft Quebec leading development, https://Www.Openworldpilot.Com/ we won’t have to experience an Assassin’s Creed wreck two years in a row.

Dead By Daylight: The Best Survivor Perks

Outlast 2 is a significant improvement over its predecessor. In this sequel, you play as a cameraman. As such, the footage from Outlast 2 comes out brighter and more vivid. Also, features of the tools of your trade (such as a sensitive microphone that allows you to hear footsteps) make the experience of Outlast 2 much more inte

If one were to ask different people what they would do at a place like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they would probably get different answers from everyone. Some would say learning magic, others might focus on herbology and brewing potions, some will demand to play Quidditch all day long, others would ditch the school and set out to be a dragon tamer with Charlie Weasley, while others would say no thank you to any of that excitement and apply for a job at Gringotts Wizarding B

There are certainly times where Pokémon Go might feel a little too simplistic, but at least it’s easy to understand. That’s part of its charm: The ability to pick up the game and jump right in, fully understanding how to play and what to do. This is not the case with Wizards Unite . Upon entering the game for the first time, the player is barraged with instructions, lore, and story. Half the words they use don’t make any sense, and it gets a bit complicated a few levels into the game **** when even more rules and features are added.
PUBG's Ryan Ringey Responds to Claims That Maps Are Asset Flips

"We’re genuinely humbled by PUBG’s ongoing success and growth, and we’re incredibly optimistic about the game’s future. We’re going to keep working on new content and improvements for all versions of the game. We know there’s still so much we can do to make PUBG a better game for our playe

There is no denying that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds _ has been hurt by the success of Epic Games' _Fortnite , and once players look at the actual numbers, they are pretty damning. Despite popularizing the Battle Royale genre, the shooter game has seen its player count dip by over 50% since the beginning of the year. In January, PUBG managed to peak at over 3.2 million concurrent players. Less than half a year later, and Bluehole's marquee title is averaging just over 1.4 million users da

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds ' downward turn in popularity has happened while Fortnite has ascended into the mainstream. The two games have had a tumultuous relationship since Epic Games launched their Battle Royale mode late last year, and they are now involved in a legal battle with PUBG Corp. over copyright infringement . Over the past several months, Fortnite has seen several gameplay overhauls, had a crossover event with Marvel , and even teased its first vehicle, which has all helped in establishing the game as one of the top titles to

Premium Event Pass buyers don't have it much easier, but their experience cap is much higher and their rewards much more exciting. Players will still have to complete between eight or nine out of ten challenges to reach level

All told, that's 7600 XP in total across 30 days, exactly enough for 19 level-ups -- from 1 to 20, each costing 400 XP. The funny thing is, it looks like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds isn't running the Sanhok Event Pass for 30 days. It's running it for 29. The countdown launched citing 24 hours and 28 days remaining, which suggests that it may entirely impossible to reach level

There are a few key factors that have contributed to the loss of all those players. A big one is that PUBG 's key competitor, Fortnite , is a free-to-play game. Therefore, if more casual gamers are trying to get into the Battle Royale scene with friends, it's a much easier to start playing Fortnite than it is to play **PUBG ** , and it helps that Fortnite is practically on every major platform out there. Players have also lost trust in Bluehole over loot box concerns, as they sell keys to unlock the loot boxes for real money (which can then be sold on the Steam market afterwards). Add to the fact that quality improvements have been slow in development, whereas Fortnite gets special events and sizable overhauls practically every w

While it might seem odd to celebrate such a monumental sales figure by reducing the price on Steam, it makes sense when looking at those 400 million downloads. Although 50 million copies have been bought for Windows PC and Xbox, that means the other 350 million were downloaded for free on either Android or

Here's how the math works out. For non-paying players, there are only so many sources of experience every day. They break down into daily experience earned just by playing, daily experience earned through completing challenges, weekly experience earned through challenges, and "Normal" challenges that persist for the entire ev

It's been a slow, but steady, decline for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds ' player count this year. By the end of February it had lowered to around 2.8 million, according to Steam Charts . In April, it finally sunk below the two million player mark, and it hasn't managed to rebound aside from one good weekend in early May. Now, it's finally below 1.5 million, and the trend continues downw

Over the past year or so, it's become clear that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been a huge influence on gaming in general, with its 100-player Battle Royale mechanic leading to games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 's Battle Royale modes. With the recent release of PUBG 's mobile version, the title is even managing to keep some semblance of pace with Fortnite , which eventually blasted past it in terms of Twitch presence on a platform formerly dominated by PUBG collectibles 's biggest streamers - but they are looking to change that going forw

As our in-house art teams built Miramar, they began to rely less on store-bought assets, although they continued to use them strategically, because it just doesn’t make sense to build everything in the game world yourself. We also re-used some things from Erangel in Miramar. One of our lead artists (a guy called Dave) puts it this

The latest developer letter on Steam is focused on the game's optimizations as well as its new map Sanhok (formerly known under its code name "Savage"), which will include new vehicles and even an exclusive weapon. Free updates are all well and good, but the studio's communications lead PUBG_Riggles took to Reddit to speak about PUBG 's loot boxes . People don't want them, PUBG has them, and they’ve been a persistent focus for the game’s development while optimization issues, cheaters, and other nasty bits of business have seemingly warranted more attention than they’ve received. This has not gone unnoticed by the game’s massive community, which boasts over 600,000 subscribers to the official subred

We’ve already posted our hands-on impressions of Infinite Warfare and a myriad of news, but now it’s time to delve deep into the inner-workings of this year's releases. After talking with Infinity Ward about Infinite Warfare's multiplayer and Lee Ross about Zombies in Spaceland , we sat down for an extended roundtable with Raven Software Studio Director, David Pellas, to learn about the process of remastering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The session ended up being refreshingly candid and brought forth multiple revelations about the development of the title.

Season 1 Reloaded is set to hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone next week on January 17. While players await the new 6v6 map Rio and the arrival of A-Train and Firecracker from The Boys, they can enjoy some of the positive changes brought to Call of Duty with this latest upd

With just under a week to go until Season 1 Reloaded lands, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has detailed a new update for multiplayer and Warzone which irons out some of the FPS game money Guide's persisting bugs. On the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer side of the fence, the update addresses the headache of players getting booted to the multiplayer menu when doing things like viewing an after-action report or equipping conversion kits to weapons. The update also corrects the unlock requirements for items such as Modern Warfare 3 's Throwning Star , the Ravage-10 stock attachment, and the Rival-9's Compensator Muzzle. Perhaps most importantly, six of the game's multiplayer maps, including Afghan, Meat, and Rust, have received adjustments to some of their spawn locations in the name of alleviating unfair spawn camp advanta

As for Call of Duty: Warzone , the MTZ Interceptor Marksman Rifle, the only weapon to see an adjustment with this new update, has received a slight nerf to its maximum and minimum damage. Similar to Modern Warfare 3 's multiplayer fixes, an issue in Warzone which kicks players to the main menu while using the Gunsmith has been patched up as well. Other miscellaneous bug fixes include Warzone players getting stuck in the Gulag , players being able to duplicate backpack items, and weapon attachments not appearing as they should in-game. The patch notes also remind players to expect more weapon changes as part of the mid-season Reloaded update next w

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has recently unveiled its plans for its first mid-season Reload. Slated for next week, the smaller update is set to bring a new original 6v6 multiplayer map named Rio, and will give players access to two exciting new weapons in the HRM-9 SMG and the TAQ Evolvere LMG. Additionally, Season 1 Reloaded will see the return of The Boys' collaboration , with A-Train and Firecracker joining Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir in the in-game shop. Players can also get involved in a limited time "Suped Up" version of Kill Confirmed where, instead of tags, fallen enemies drop Temp-V Field Upgrades to

To unlock rewards for the Trick 'R Treat: Candy Hunt Event, players will need to collect Candy. Candy can be collected in every major mode in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone , though the methods for acquiring it do differ. Players can collect Candy by doing the follow

Although this isn't the first time that Modern Warfare 2 weapons have received a buff in Modern Warfare 3 , the October 1 update does look to be one of the most substantial adjustments for a long time. Earlier this year, Warzone decreased the obstructive VFX on Modern Warfare 2 weapons to make them more in line with Modern Warfare 3 weapons, but now many shotguns, handguns, and more are perfectly viable options in the 2023 shooter thanks to the latest rounds of buffs. It's unclear if this means these updated weapons will become the new Modern Warfare 3 meta , but with Black Ops 6 right around the corner, it could be too l

It’s difficult to pick the best from Fragpunk and Valorant. The games have many similarities. This isn’t a surprise, as Fragpunk uses other shooter games as inspiration and borrows elements from them. However, it has unique things that set it apart from the competit

As detailed in the official patch notes , a number of weapons from 2022's Modern Warfare 2 have been buffed in the latest Modern Warfare 3 update. The M13C assault rifle, for example, has had its maximum damage increased from 31 to 32, meaning it is now capable of a 4-shot kill if at least one bullet is a headshot, Sledgehammer says. A plethora of shotguns have also seen substantial buffs, including the KV Broadside, Lockwood 300, Expedite 12, Bryson 800, and the Bryson 890. All of the aforementioned shotguns have had their damage range increased, but the specifics, such as maximum damage range and near-medium damage range, vary between each wea

This choice should not be entertained in the slightest , since Doctor Daeva is Adramahlihk himself! Fighting him is one of the hardest challenges in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that can be a huge pain to deal with, and even considering this option will lead to players getting a rather undesirable ending because of the consequences invol

Instead of the less immersive top-down dialogue from Divinity: Original Sin 2 , each interaction with a character now results in a semi-cinematic complete with voice acting and even motion capture. Even the old Baldur's Gate games didn't have this level of immersion and eff

Players can choose to attack the Magisters on sight or try to talk them out of this heinous act. But they're essentially killing family members one by one until they "give up" Gwyd or other Sourcerers they know. Though a Godwoken doesn't need to be a hero, letting this family die for nothing is a pretty questionable cho

Thanks to the release on Nintendo’s Switch Divinity: Original Sin 2 is going through a resurgence as old and new fans dive into this great RPG. With a compelling story, great characters, and fun gameplay, it’s a game that can occupy players for a long, long t

By now, it's probably safe to assume that Larian Studios has perfect the isometric turn-based combat system given both Divinity: Original Sin games' puzzle-like combat are well received. They then extend this mastery to Baldur's Gate

The Red Prince is one of the premade characters with a serious backstory , but fans agree that he is fairly annoying. Players can either pick him as a playable hero or later meet him in the game and hire him as a companion. However, the game also allows the player to kill the narcissistic lizard if they tire of his arrogant behav

Weapon Abilities include Single-Handed, Two-Handed, Ranged, and Dual Wielding. Defense Abilities include Retribution (Damage is reflected back at the attacker), Leadership (Increasing Bonuses are granted to the party), and Perseverance (Grants Physical and Magical Armour when certain conditions are met). Players may put points into these as w

It's not just about taking a wrong route during a quest, but also about gameplay decisions that can affect the story. Some choices on this list are not that dangerous and probably won't spoil the player experience too much. However, some of these choices are also unequivocally horrible. Bear in mind that huge spoilers for the plot of Divinity: Original Sin 2 aw

The game follows the story of a Legatus investigating his father's politically motivated murder by unknown assailants. Fans will encounter historical figures like Julius Caesar, Marcus Cicero, and Marcus Cato The Youn

The sheer number of options can be daunting to any new player of Divinity Original Sin 2. For this guide, the term "abilities" will cover Attributes, Combat, Civil Abilities, and Skills. Here is an overview of abilities for beginn

At this moment, players should pick the person they've formed a romantic bond with as opposed to anyone else, since this raunchy encounter ends up being rather soulless otherwise. Characters like Beast and the Red Prince may be entertaining, but they're far from the most optimal partner that players can share this intimate night w

The subplot for Sebille is one of the most thorough and intriguing in the entire SLG Game Tips. As the Prime Scion, the controller of all Elves, the Mother Tree, has chosen her to become the next Mother. But this means that all Elves remain subject to the desires of the Mother Tree and Tir-Cendil

That being said there are some things about the game that can be annoying and you may miss out on useful features that can make your character’s quest so much easier. Whether it’s useful mechanics, quality of life tools, or some hidden features, here is what you should probably know before start

Larian hit it out of the park with this Gift Bag, as it contains a number of community-made mods that were so popular, they turned them into permanent game features that can be enabled or disabled from an in-game menu at any time, exactly as one can do with a mod on the PC. These incl

The game offers impactful dialogue choices that alter the narrative, yet maintain the player's interest from beginning to end as all elements interconnect and respond to Wictor's decisions. There's a Persona- like combat system as Wictor bonds with demons and utilizes their unique abilities and skills against his enemies. The biggest downside to The Thaumatage is it can take some time for the game's many systems to click and there's a lack of tutorials, but once they do, players will be in for one of the best modern CRPGs availa

The RTS mechanics are well implemented on consoles, making them accessible and fun to most players. The hero combat is similar to what is seen in regular CRPGs like Baldur's Gate. There is a lot of dialogue to read and listen to, but the story is always interesting, and fans of RTS and RPGs get a perfect merging of gen

Divinity Original Sin 2: The Worst Choices You Can Make In The Game

Adramahlihk is a nefarious presence who hounds Lohse at every step of the way, forging a contract with her that has tied her down with a curse that she needs to get rid of at all costs. The end of her character's quest line comes when players meet Doctor Daeva, a mysterious figure who speaks at length about how they'll help the player out as long as they help him ascend to divin

As awesome as this may sound, the so-called diplomacy route can ruin the emotional impact of the main plotline. In Original Sin 2 , the player's characters strive to attain Divinity - actual godhood - to make an actual change in their lives. Unlike other RPGs, each main character has something at stake . These characters lose their raison d'etre if they fail to attain Divinity - and the lack of any conflict with the diplomacy route can dismiss their struggle in the narrative altoget

Since they are the natural enemies of Sourcerers, most players don't see a reason to help them. Players can trick the magisters, steal from them, make them do the dirty work, or clear out enemies. But some players may avoid helping them to protect relations with fellow Sourcer

There is also the inclusion of the "Gift Bag: Song of Nature." The PC modding community has been central to the ongoing popularity of Divinity: Original Sin 2 . However, when games are ported to console players are often only given the base version of the game, which may often be fine, but lacking that certain special something that one can experience on

From the beginning, there is an option to easily set up a link between your Nintendo Switch and Steam account, and it cannot be understated how wonderful this is to have as a feature, and how rare it appears to be in today’s gaming market. The result is that long-time players of the game who may already have countless hours logged on their PCs will now be able to access everything without missing a beat, and the portability factor may renew interest in the game for some play

Granted, who doesn't love creating a personal character for a first RPG playthrough, right? In Original Sin 2 , players have the option of using a premade character or create their own . While the latter seems attractive, they should consider opting for the former first. That's because all premade characters in Original Sin 2 come with a unique story and internal dialo

Players who sit through a few hours of Original Sin 2 might realize that merchants carry some of the best loot in the game. After all, merchants "shift" their wears whenever the player levels up. In turn, their goods almost always match the player's needs. However, players shouldn't always depend on their cash to secure the SLG game resource Management's greatest go

Expeditions: Rome is a follow-up to the historically set Expeditions: Conquistador and Expeditions: Viking. Like its predecessors, Rome features turn-based combat and grand tactics elements like gathering resources and conquering regions to develop the protagonist's standing in R

This means that Sebille would have escaped one captor, the Shadow Prince, just to be imprisoned once more as Tir-Cendilius' puppet. There is no fate worse for someone as abused and deserving of freedom as Sebi

Divinity: Original Sin 2 joins the growing list of high-quality ports to the Nintendo Switch. In its inclusion of cross-saving with Steam, along with the permanent addition of some of the most beloved community-made mods, developer Larian has gone above and beyond. Other developers who port to the Switch should watch closely, because these are exactly the type of features that should be the norm, not the exception to stare at in

Deciding on how to develop a character is also a crucial choice as it has a direct impact on gameplay. There are various primary attributes to increase that influence some of the major game parameters. For instance, Perception or "Wits" helps a player spot hidden secrets and traps. But that's not the only useful feat

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a game full of trade-offs. One might have to engage in a battle they could have skipped to save someone, for instance. That's exactly the case with the family of captured Sourcerer Gwydian Rince. The player encounters the family, including children, near the Blackpits about to be execu

Moving away from Tolkienesque fantasy and science fiction is Sovereign: Syndicate, a Victorian-era CRPG with a Steampunk setting. It focuses more on character interaction and role-playing than combat and shares similarities with the critically acclaimed Disco Elys

In Original Sin 2 , players have the option of playing through various difficulties - the chill Story and Explorer Modes, and the standard Classic Mode.
Divinity Original Sin 2: A Comprehensive Character Creation Guide

In Original Sin 2 , this Character serves as the player's "avatar" in the world of Rivellon. Comeback Kid only works once per combat, but will come back whenever the said character dies and gets resurrected in com

Environment will play a more significant role this time around. Height does factor into battle strategy, making the decision to initiate battle from a cliff overlooking your enemies or from a rooftop an advantageous decision, though be warned the battlefield position benefits do work both ways. Areas of the battlefield can receive a blessing or curse, effecting all who enter the area. The ground may be frozen, energized, or set ablaze, making a path to an enemy or ally inaccessible without sustaining damage. The number of available skills and spells have been greatly expanded, and as a Sorcerer the player will have access to spells with unimaginable power, demonstrating why this potent magic has been banned. The action point system has been revamped making planning the next move in battle a more calculated decision. Lastly, if you think you have mastered the battle system, the option to put your money where your mouth is available in the new PvP arena where you can test your combat prowess against another player.

As a result, he now wants revenge against Lucian's son and generally despises the Divine. Ifan is a Wayfarer and can summon a wolf to aid him in battle. Depending on the choices players make in the end, he will either despise or love the main character. For the most part, Ifan will stick with the player through thick and thin as long as he's not insulted by the player's decision regarding the new Div

In a departure from the first game where the player assumed the role of a Source Hunter to rid the world of the forbidden magic known as Source, we are now taking on the role of a Sourcerer. Taking place 1000 years after the events of its predecessor, the story begins with the player being held prisoner in Fort Joy, a misnomer if there ever was one. The Divine is dead and the Void is expanding, which will eventually consume this godless world if it remains unchallenged. Sourcerers are taking the blame for this turn of events, with the player being the main target for the Magisters of the Divine Order's witch hunt. Fort Joy is where you were sent to be "cured" of your powers. While the specific method of "curing" is not spelled out in detail, the self preservation instinct kicks in to send the message the only objective for now is to get the hell out of Fort Joy.

Limited hands on time with the early build of Divinity: Original Sin II can only paint a very limited picture of what will be forthcoming in the sequel, but the information available should assure fans of the original that they can remain optimistic about what is to come. The enormous world and the near limitless freedom to explore it returns, as will the lauded combat system. Veterans of the original will feel at home in combat, though several improvements have been added.

Both titles are brilliant in their own right, but even the most ardent fan of the first SLG game guide has to admit that the sequel is simply bigger, better, and more engaging in every way. Some people may go so far as to call it overwhelming, which is fair considering the sheer wealth of things players can accomplish in the game. Players can have passionate romances with one of the many characters in this title, although the intensity of these romances can change quite a bit. This list of the Divinity: Original Sin 2 romance options has been updated to include some more informat

The last part of the Character Creation process is perhaps more personal for both the player and their character of choice. In this part of the process, players have to check their Tags and their Instruments . He's one of the game's most mysterious characters and is an absolute joy to interact with. There's a reason why so many players consider his origin story to be the best for a replay, given his in-depth knowledge of the wo

At Driftwood, players should make sure that he's in the party while visiting Lohar in the un
