Developed by Ebb Software and heavily inspired by the works of H. R. Giger, the original designer of the Xenomorph from Alien , Scorn is a first-person horror game that was first announced all the way back in 2014. After ongoing issues with funding, Scorn is back and in development for Xbox Series X and PC. Set in a nightmarish universe, Ebb Software has designed the game around the idea of players being thrown into an unsettling environment that makes them question what they see. Each location contains its own theme, and players will need to acquire skills, unlock weapons, and complete puzzles to make it out al

Nintendo hasn't made a true Paper Mario game since 2004's Thousand Year Door , and if you've always wished for another game like those first two in the series then you should probably check this out. It doesn't revolutionize the RPG formula, but Bug Fables shows that you don't need an Italian plumber to have fun playing with pa

Of all of the games rumored for the Xbox Series X, a reboot of Fable is one of the most anticipated. While the game is in no way confirmed, there are rumors that Fable will appear at Xbox's exclusive presentation in July , resurrecting a franchise that hasn't received a true new entry in almost a dec

Bug Fables is weaponized nostalgia. Moonsprout Games set out to make a game that would bring you back to the mid-90s and early-2000s, and if you played RPGs back on the SNES or N64, then this is going to unleash all the tingly feelings of your childhood stored at the back of your br

Alongside games like Knights of the Old Republic , which featured its own morality system with a light side and dark side meter, black-and-white moral systems were fairly common in a Adventure game patch notes, adding an additional layer of depth to individual characters. It was an early blueprint for what was to come, providing ways for players to impact a game's narrative, at least to a degree, with decision making, but not quite having the effect on entire worlds like fans see in more modern ga

a wooden table topped with lots of different itemsHorror games are a great way to show off new technology, allowing for features like ray tracing to really shine, so it's no surprise that Microsoft took advantage of that during the Inside Xbox event. Microsoft has already announced it will be holding monthly Xbox Series X streams over the summer as part of its Xbox 20/20 initiative, and Sony is yet to properly reveal the PlayStation 5 to the world, meaning that with or without E3 2020, there's going to be plenty of next-gen news on the horizon, and more horror games to be revea

Bug Fables has a lot of side quests you can take on for extra money, medals, or items, but it doesn't have an efficient way of tracking them. When you accept a side quest from the various mission boards, you sometimes have to talk to the NPC to start them. Except once you speak with them and they tell you where to go, the side quest doesn't update in your logbook and it doesn't appear on your map. So, if you happened to decide to save a side quest for later or turn the game off, it's easy to forget where you were supposed to go. This means that you might have to wander around until you find the missing NPC, which seems like something that could have been avoided by placing some markers on your

From the brilliant minds at Bloober Team, developer of Layers of Fear 2, Blair Witch , and the previously mentioned Observer: System Redux comes a new original next-generation psychological horror, The Medium . Haunted by a vision of a child's murder, players control Marianne, a medium that's living between two different worlds: the real world and the spirit world, and must find answers in an abandoned hotel resort. For the creation of The Medium 's soundtrack, Bloober Team has chosen to collaborate with Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka in an effort to reflect the game’s theme of duality. The Medium will release on Xbox Series X and PC in Holiday 2

That being said, it's a necessary change for a modern title. Ideally, there will be a balance between the old system and the creation of the new one, though, with no game confirmed so far, it's difficult to say what exactly that will look like. Fans may get a decent idea if the game is announced at Xbox's July event, though they'll just have to wait and find

On the other end of that are games that dropped the morality system entirely, one example being Fallout 4. Ditching the Karma system wasn't a popular decision, but it did make players consider why they did what they did, rather than just making binary choices to fit the mold of a hero or villain. That's not an easy thing to accomplish, and unrooting players from a mechanic they've used for the better part of a decade is commendable, even if there's a notable shift in how well that change works. Morality in the game is by no means perfect, there were pointless decisions in Fallout 4 , and players were forced to play the hero in most situations, but it did make the smaller-scale decisions worthy of reflect
